The Adventure Begins
Your adventure begins with a trip to to the far east of the western world, Newfoundland and Labrador. The
island portion of the province, where we are located, is on the far east coast of Canada. We are surrounded by water and have some of the best Atlantic salmon fishing in the world.
The island is easily accessible by air from many major North American cities. The closest airport is located in Stephenville. Check with your travel agent or click over to expedia.com for flight schedules and prices.
If you are traveling to Newfoundland by vehicle, there is a ferry service from North Sydney, Nova Scotia, to Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. For reservations: 1-800-341-7981
Your Adventure Continues
When you arrive in Newfoundland, your destination will be Rose Blanche - a picturesque community located 42 km southeast of Port aux Basques.
It is here you will meet your host, George Hardy, who will prepare you for your one-hour coastal boat ride to the isolated fishing lodge in Garia Bay.
Your one hour journey by boat along the South Coast
to Garia Bay will be one to remember. Wildlife is abundant in this remote area of our province, and it is quite common to see bald eagles and osprey in flight, or caribou and moose grazing along the hillsides.
The landscape, filled with rolling hills and flowing
rivers, is rugged, yet beautiful. The exceptional scenery and remoteness of the area also provide the peace and quiet that many anglers are seeking.
It is truly one of North America's last pristine
wilderness areas and, it is still, today, one of Canada's best kept secrets.
Along the way you will pass deep fjords, vertical cliffs, and plunging waterfalls as you make your way to one of the most secluded salmon rivers in Newfoundland and the Bayview Lodge.
